performative installation | 2017

beloved is a performative installation work and collaboration between alivia and artist bri heath. this installation utilizes objects, sculptural elements, movement, creative writing and sound to explore black girlhood through the idea of memory (individual and collective memories, as well as the fragmented nature of memory) and the power of personal narrative (referencing the highly self-reflexive tradition of womanist theory.) This work also includes live creative responses from black female columbia college chicago students.
